A Font For Dyslexics

A new font has been developed for those with Dyslexia by Dutch design firm StudioStudio.

Recognizing that dyslexics tend to rotate letters as well as mix them up, Dyslexie incorporates numerous features to help keep such problems from occurring. These features include thicker lines at certain parts of the letter, differences in openings and slant as well as a range of other factors. The video below explains more.

This is certainly a clever idea. Maybe soon we will se this font widely used in both digital and print text and installed within operating systems.

We love great ideas here at Project Unbox and if it helps someone, well….even better!

Box Park

Ever wanted to do something cool with shipping containers?
Look no further than this! Box Park! The first pop up mall built out of shipping containers!

This brilliant idea is making use of land waiting to be developed, creating an opportunity for independent shops and using old containers therefore no building necessary so we could even call it green!

Startup Weekend London 25th-27th November. #SWEL

ImageReading about Startup weekend on a blog, at Project Unbox we just had to be involved!

An event that connects people with all skills and backgrounds and in 54 hours gets them to create products and ideas ready to startup!

We went to see what it was all about and attended the education focussed startup in London 25th-27th November and it was brilliant!

Starting on Friday at 6pm, meeting and greeting before proposing ideas and forming teams to set to it on the Saturday creating your products and ideas ready to be presented on Sunday at 4pm.

All I can say was what a fantastic event with mentors, sponsors, and organisers so keen to help and create networks it opens up the idea of the skys the limit!

The ideas developed over the weekend were generally quite different to those proposed on the Friday but just shows how effective a brainstorming can be of creative minds.

Overall an amazing weekend that left me knackered the week after, if you work i would definitely suggest you take the next day off like a majority of the attendees did!

We met some amazing people and got us thinking about a whole new set of ideas.

The next UK one is proposed sometime in February! If it sounds like your cup of tea, DO IT! We’ll be there!

BookBook for iPhone

BookBook for iPhone is a wallet and iPhone case rolled into one pocket-sized, vintage book. Open this beautifully designed leather book and you will see a wallet on the left and a slot for your iPhone 4/4S on the right. Trade your wallet for this handsome little book and you’ll have one less thing in your pocket or purse when you walk out the door. And, as long as you remember your phone, you’ll never forget your wallet again.

Twelve South really have come up with a great product here. Most trousers or jeans come with 2 (useable) pockets, one for your keys and one for your BookBook!

Little Printer

Little Printer lives in your home, bringing you news, puzzles and gossip from friends. Use your smartphone to set up subscriptions and Little Printer will gather them together to create a timely, beautiful mini-newspaper.

Pre-orders for Little Printer will open in 2012, when it launches as a ‘beta’ product. Join the mailing list to be the first to get the news.

We love this idea and think it would be fantastic to print your own mini morning and evening newspapers. You can use it to keep you up to date on the news, create a mini to do list for the day, print a puzzle of the day, interesting fact of the day, keep track of upcoming birthdays the list just goes on!

We can definitely see one of these sitting in the Project Unbox office!
